How to Cancel Netflix in 2026 (Every Method)

Direct billing, Apple, Google Play, or a partner bundle — cancel cleanly with no surprise charges.

Whether you're cutting costs, taking a break, or switching services, canceling Netflix is straightforward — if you cancel through whoever actually bills you. That's the step most people get wrong, so let's start there.

Step 1: Find out who's billing you

Log in at netflix.com and open Account → Membership & Billing. You'll see one of these:

  • Direct billing — card, PayPal, or gift balance paid straight to Netflix
  • Third-party billing — Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or a mobile/cable partner

You must cancel with the biller. Netflix can't cancel an Apple-billed subscription for you, and vice versa.

Step 2: Cancel

  1. Direct billing: In Account → Membership & Billing, click Cancel Membership and confirm. Netflix may offer a cheaper plan first — choose Finish Cancellation to proceed.
  2. Apple: On iPhone/iPad go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, pick Netflix, tap Cancel Subscription. On Mac: System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
  3. Google Play: Open the Play Store app → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Netflix → Cancel subscription.
  4. Partner bundle (e.g. T-Mobile, Comcast): Cancel in the partner's own account portal under billing/subscriptions — or call their support to unlink it.

Step 3: Verify

  • Check for a cancellation confirmation email — no email, no cancellation.
  • You keep access until the end of the current billing period; you won't be refunded for partial months.
  • Watch your next statement to confirm no further charges.
  • Optionally remove saved payment methods under Manage payment info to prevent accidental reactivation.
Changed your mind later?Netflix keeps your profiles, watch history, and My List for about 10 months after cancellation. Resubscribe within that window and everything is right where you left it.

Troubleshooting

  • No "Cancel Membership" button? You're billed by a third party — cancel there instead.
  • Charged after canceling? Compare the charge date with your confirmation email's end date, then contact the biller's support.
  • Can't log in? Use netflix.com/loginhelp to reset your password first.

Before you go: cheaper options

If price is the reason, Netflix's ad-supported plan is significantly cheaper than Standard/Premium. And remember most price hikes only apply at your next billing date — cancel a few days early to be safe.

Conclusion

Identify the biller, cancel there, confirm by email, done. Five minutes of admin now saves you from the classic "wait, I'm still being charged?!" discovery three months later.
